2. We wanted to share with you how you can know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13 says: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life... Yes, you can know 100% that you are on your way to heaven. But how you ask...
First, acknowledge that you are a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 that: ...all have sinner, and come short of the glory of God. This verse tells us that we have sinned (done things that are against God and His Word) and that because of sin we cannot go to heaven, but deserve eternity in a place called hell.
Secondly, we need to realize that God loves us. Romans 5:8 says: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God loves us, but cannot allow our sin into heaven. Therefore God sent his only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and if we will put our faith and trust in Christ alone He will save us.
Thirdly, we need to call upon the Lord to save us. Once we have come to the realization of our sin and that there is a Savior, we then need to call upon the Lord to save us. Romans 10:13: Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
